Refund, Cancellation and Payment Policy
This policy explains the circumstances in which users may cancel an enrolment, subscription, booking or other paid service obtained through Edufocus.
Effective Date: 14 August 2026 | Last Updated: 14 August 2026
1. Purpose
This Refund, Cancellation and Payment Policy explains the circumstances in which users may cancel an enrolment, subscription, booking or other paid service obtained through Edufocus.
Because Edufocus may facilitate different types of educational services, refund eligibility may depend on the specific service purchased, whether the service has started, whether digital content has been accessed and the terms presented at the time of purchase.
This Policy should be read together with the Edufocus Terms and Conditions.
2. General Principle
Before completing a payment, users should review:
- Service description.
- Course or batch details.
- Start date.
- Duration.
- Learning mode.
- Fee.
- Installment schedule.
- Cancellation conditions.
- Refund conditions.
- By completing a transaction, the user acknowledges the applicable payment terms.
3. Cancellation Before Service Commencement
3.1 Course or Batch Enrolment
Where cancellation is requested before the applicable course or batch has commenced and before the user has accessed substantial paid digital learning content, Edufocus may process a refund subject to the applicable course/provider terms.
Unless a different refund commitment is expressly displayed at checkout:
- A cancellation request made before commencement may be eligible for a refund.
- Reasonable payment gateway or transaction charges actually incurred may be deducted where legally permissible.
- Any non-refundable third-party charge will be disclosed or accounted for where applicable.
4. Cancellation After Classes Have Started
Once classes, batches, tutoring sessions or other educational services have commenced, refunds will generally be considered based on:
- Number of classes already delivered.
- Portion of service already consumed.
- Whether course materials have been accessed.
- Whether the provider has incurred committed costs.
- Specific course or institute cancellation terms.
- No automatic full refund is guaranteed after commencement.
- Where a pro-rata refund is applicable, the refundable amount may be calculated after deducting the value of services already delivered and permitted charges.
5. Digital Content
Where a paid digital course, downloadable material, recorded class, premium AI feature or other digital content has been made available and accessed by the user, refunds may be restricted to the extent permitted by applicable law and the specific purchase terms.
Users should review the applicable refund conditions before accessing paid digital content.
6. Subscription Services
For recurring or subscription-based services:
- Users may cancel future renewals through the applicable account or support process.
- Cancellation generally prevents the next renewal.
- Cancellation does not automatically create a refund for the current billing period.
- Refunds for the current period may be considered where required by law, where Edufocus has expressly offered a refund, or where a service-specific policy provides for one.
- Where a subscription is suspended because of non-payment, outstanding amounts may remain payable where contractually applicable.
7. Installment Payments
Where a course or service is purchased using installments:
- Each installment forms part of the applicable payment commitment.
- Cancellation after service commencement does not automatically cancel outstanding obligations.
- Refunds, if applicable, will be determined based on the service consumed and the applicable agreement.
- Failure to pay an installment may result in restricted access or suspension.
8. Tutor or Institute Services
Where Edufocus facilitates a service delivered by an independent tutor, academy or institute, the applicable provider may have additional refund or cancellation terms.
Where a provider's terms were disclosed to the user before payment, those terms may apply.
Edufocus may assist in resolving payment or service-related disputes but does not guarantee a refund for services delivered by an independent provider unless Edufocus is itself responsible for the relevant payment or service obligation.
9. Classes Cancelled by Edufocus or Service Provider
If a paid class, batch or service is cancelled by Edufocus or the relevant service provider and:
- The service cannot reasonably be rescheduled; or
- An alternative acceptable service is not offered.
- The user may be eligible for a refund for the undelivered portion of the service, subject to applicable terms and law.
10. Rescheduled Classes
Where a class or session is reasonably rescheduled, cancellation and refund eligibility may depend on the applicable provider's terms.
Users should contact support promptly if the revised schedule cannot be accommodated.
11. Technical Problems
If a user is unable to access a paid service because of a technical problem attributable to Edufocus, the user should contact support as soon as reasonably possible.
Edufocus may:
- Restore access.
- Extend access.
- Reschedule a session.
- Provide an alternative service.
- Issue an appropriate refund where applicable.
- Users should provide relevant information such as transaction ID, account details and a description of the issue.
12. Duplicate Payments
If a user is charged more than once for the same transaction due to a payment processing error, the duplicate amount may be refunded after verification.
The refund will generally be processed to the original payment method.
13. Failed Transactions
If money has been debited from a user's bank account but the Edufocus transaction is shown as failed or incomplete, the transaction will be verified with the relevant payment gateway.
Where Edufocus does not receive the payment, the amount may be automatically reversed by the payment provider or may require further reconciliation.
Users should retain the transaction reference number.
14. Fraudulent or Unauthorised Transactions
If you believe that an unauthorised transaction has occurred, contact Edufocus immediately and also notify your bank or payment provider where appropriate.
Refunds for unauthorised transactions will be handled based on the investigation, payment gateway records and applicable law.
15. Refund Request Process
To request a refund, contact:
support@edufocus.in
The request should include:
- Full name.
- Registered email/mobile number.
- Transaction/order ID.
- Course, batch, subscription or service name.
- Payment date.
- Reason for requesting the refund.
- Relevant supporting information.
- Edufocus may request additional information to verify the transaction and the identity of the requester.
16. Refund Review
Refund requests will be reviewed against:
- This Refund Policy.
- The applicable Terms and Conditions.
- Service-specific terms.
- Course or institute terms.
- Payment records.
- Service usage.
- Applicable law.
- Submission of a refund request does not automatically guarantee approval.
17. Refund Processing Time
Once a refund is approved, Edufocus will initiate the refund through the applicable payment channel.
The actual time for the amount to appear in the user's bank account, card or payment instrument may depend on the payment gateway, bank or financial institution.
Edufocus is not responsible for delays caused solely by external payment providers or banking institutions.
18. Refund Method
Unless otherwise required by law, approved refunds will generally be processed to the original payment method used for the transaction.
Edufocus may request verification before processing a refund.
19. Taxes and Charges
Where applicable, refunds will be processed in accordance with the tax treatment of the original transaction and applicable law.
Certain transaction, payment gateway or third-party charges may be non-refundable where legally permissible and where applicable to the transaction.
20. Non-Refundable Situations
Subject to applicable law, a refund may generally not be available where:
- The service has been fully delivered.
- The user has consumed the relevant service.
- Digital content has been substantially accessed.
- The user has voluntarily abandoned a course after commencement.
- The user failed to attend scheduled classes without complying with the applicable cancellation terms.
- The account was suspended or terminated because of a material violation of the Terms.
- The user purchased a service that was expressly identified as non-refundable before payment.
- Nothing in this section removes rights that cannot legally be excluded.
21. Refunds for Promotional Offers
Promotional, discounted, coupon-based or special-price purchases may have specific refund conditions.
Where special refund terms are displayed at checkout, those terms will apply.
Referral rewards, promotional credits and Edufocus Points are not automatically convertible into cash unless expressly stated otherwise.
22. Chargebacks
Users should contact Edufocus first regarding legitimate payment or refund concerns.
Fraudulent or unjustified chargebacks may result in account review, suspension or other action to the extent permitted by law.
23. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit rights available to consumers under mandatory Indian consumer protection laws.
Edufocus will comply with applicable consumer protection requirements.
24. Changes to Refund Policy
Edufocus may update this Policy from time to time.
The updated version will be published on the website with the revised "Last Updated" date.
The policy applicable to a transaction will generally be the policy and service terms presented to the user at the time of purchase, subject to applicable law.
